Déjà Vu: Braves Crush Granite Again

For the second week in a row, the New Hampshire Granite couldn’t keep up with the Seacoast Braves, falling 14-3 on Sunday.
The Braves jumped on the board early in the first inning when Tom Labatte singled to drive in two runs. Sean O’Leary extended the lead to 3-0 with an RBI single in the top of the second.
Seacoast broke the game open with a five-run third inning. Labatte delivered an RBI single, Chris Mozina tripled to bring home two, Gene Burnham doubled in another, and Marvin Kelly grounded into a double play that still allowed a run to score.
Keith LaBrecque earned the win for the Braves, tossing a complete game. The right-hander gave up seven hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking four. Brian Waldman took the loss for Granite, allowing 10 runs (six earned) on 16 hits over five innings, with no strikeouts and one walk.
Brian Antonucci and Chris Guilmette each collected two hits for Granite, while Antonucci, Guilmette, and Matt McMahon each drove in a run.
The Braves piled up 18 hits in the game. Labatte led the way with four RBIs, going 2-for-4. Peter Gilmore sparked the offense from the top of the lineup with a 3-for-4 performance. Jake Bruce, Burnham, Paul Anderson, and Mozina also notched multi-hit games. Seacoast was aggressive on the base paths, tallying four stolen bases.
New Hampshire Granite will look to regroup in Game 2 of their Sunday doubleheader, taking on the Bedford Bisons.
