Granite Lets Six-Run Lead Slip in Loss to Bisons

Granite fell 9-7 to the Bisons on Sunday after surrendering a six-run lead.
Brian Remillard was a bright spot for Granite, going 3-for-3 with singles in the 1st, 4th, and 6th innings.
The Bisons struck first in the top of the 1st when Mike Welch singled, scoring a run. Granite quickly responded in the bottom half of the inning with a run on a wild pitch and another from Remillard’s single.
Granite added a run in the 2nd following a Bisons error, then extended their lead in the 3rd inning with contributions from Matt McMahon (double), Brian Antonucci (single), Foster St. Cyr (single), and Siul Mejia (hit by pitch), each driving in a run.
However, the Bisons rallied back in the 7th inning, capitalizing on two Granite errors and Leavitt’s single to retake the lead.
On the mound, Welch earned the win for Bisons, pitching four scoreless innings with four strikeouts. St. Cyr took the loss for Granite, giving up eight runs (three earned) on nine hits over four innings. Chris Guilmette started for Granite, allowing one run on two hits over three innings.
Granite finished with 10 hits with Mejia, St. Cyr, Antonucci, Remillard, and McMahon each driving in a run. The Bisons tallied 11 hits, led by two-hit performances from Luis Valdez, Steve Tressier, Welch, and Leavitt. Tressier and Welch each had two RBIs.
New Hampshire Granite will look to bounce back next Sunday against the South Lawrence Mariners.
