The Merrimack Valley Redbirds made a statement on Sunday, cruising to an 11-1 victory over the Merrimack Brewers.

The Redbirds wasted no time getting on the board, capitalizing on an error to score two runs in the top of the first before Heath Norris added an RBI single to make it 3-0. The 'birds kept the pressure on in the second, tacking on three more runs behind run-scoring singles from Chris GaussDanyer Fabian, and Norris.

Starting pitcher Damean Currier earned the win for the Redbirds, allowing just one unearned run on six hits over five innings. He struck out four and walked one. Fabian closed out the game with a clean inning of relief, striking out two without allowing a baserunner.

Anthony Hall took the loss for the Brewers, surrendering 11 runs (eight earned) across 5.1 innings. He allowed nine hits, walked six, and struck out three.

The Redbirds’ offense clicked all day, racking up 11 hits and six walks. Norris and Braden Simard led the way with two hits each, while Norris and Cesar Jimenez each drove in a pair.

Chandler Duhamel and Alex Meehan each recorded two hits to pace the Brewers’ lineup.

Next up for the Redbirds is a road matchup against the Raphael Club Black Sox as they look to build on Sunday’s momentum.
