After last week’s rainout, the MudDucks came out strong Sunday, handing the Cardinals a 10-3 defeat.
The Cardinals struck first with a sacrifice fly from Oliver Victoria in the opening inning. However, MudDucks quickly responded with a two-run homer to right field by Ethan Cady, taking a 2-1 lead.
Cardinals regained the lead briefly in the third inning when Victoria singled and Ben Quick delivered a sacrifice fly. MudDucks answered back in the bottom half as Vincent Gravellese doubled to tie the game at 3-3.
The MudDucks broke the deadlock in the fourth, scoring two runs thanks to a hit-by-pitch on Rich Farquhar and a fielder’s choice by Dylan Sheehan, pushing the lead to 5-3.
In the sixth inning, MudDucks exploded for five runs on just three hits. Cady’s single drove in two runs, Gravellese added an RBI single, and an error contributed two more runs.
Dylan Sheehan earned the win, pitching seven innings, giving up five hits and three runs (two earned), with three strikeouts and five walks. Meredius Pendell took the loss for the Cardinals, surrendering 10 runs (six earned) on 11 hits over 5⅔ innings, striking out two.
Offensively, Victoria led the Cardinals with two RBIs, going 1-for-2. Victoria, Jamel Vilmont, Jordan McCluskey, Sam Czel, and Juan Arias each collected a hit.
MudDucks piled up 11 hits, paced by Gravellese’s 3-for-4 performance. Cady was the standout with four RBIs and a 2-for-4 showing. Liam Waldon added two hits in three at-bats.
