Cesar Jimenez delivered a dominant offensive performance on Sunday, driving in seven runs on three extra-base hits to lead the Merrimack Valley Redbirds to a 12-4 win over the Granite State Grizzlies.

Jimenez sparked the RedBirds’ offense with a three-run triple in the first inning, followed by a solo home run in the third, and capped his day with another three-run triple in the seventh. He finished 3-for-5 with two triples and a homer.

The Redbirds jumped out early with a four-run first, including an RBI single from Nick Rioux and Jimenez’s first triple.

They extended their lead in the second with a bases-loaded walk and a wild pitch, making it 6-0. Jimenez’s homer in the third pushed the lead to seven.

Zach Rioux earned the win, pitching 6.2 innings while allowing four runs on three hits. He struck out six but battled command issues with nine walks. Still, the right-hander worked out of several jams to keep the Grizzlies from mounting a full comeback.

The 'birds pounded out 12 hits in total. Jimenez, Mike Simard, and Damean Currier each tallied three hits, while Darwin Fabian chipped in with two. The Redbirds also worked 10 walks, with four players—Cam Conway, Heath Norris, Jolmi Minaya, and Braden Simard—drawing two apiece. Rioux added two stolen bases as the team swiped six overall.

Defensively, the RedBirds were flawless, committing no errors. Currier anchored the infield with six plays.

For the Grizzlies, Jon Hoying, Matthew Pizzi, and Tim Mainella each collected one hit. Four different players drove in a run, including Pizzi and Donny Cote. Despite their struggles at the plate, the Grizzlies showed patience, drawing nine walks and turning a double play defensively.

The Redbirds continue to ride their momentum as they move into the heart of the season.
